Records Management

  1. How long must a school administrative unit retain local school records?

    2. Local school records must be retained in accordance with the record retention requirements of the Secretary of State, Maine State Archives, Chapter 10: Rules for Disposition of Local Government Records, Schedule L: School Records.

  2. Is the retention period for federal records the same as for non-federal records?

    No. Retention and access requirements for federal records are in accordance with 34 CFR, Part 80.42.
