Bullying Home > Training and Professional Development Training and Professional DevelopmentEffective prevention cannot be accomplished through one-time events, presentations or guest speakers. Rather, effective prevention requires ongoing staff and teacher training throughout the year and from year-to-year. This section offers updates on upcoming training opportunities as well as contacts to expert trainers in the field here in Maine and beyond. Training and Professional Development Opportunities
The Office of the Attorney General offers an in-service training, at no cost to the school, on civil rights issues. An assistant attorney general, who explains the law section, and a trainer, who explains the Civil Rights Team Project, conduct the training. Both the AAG and the trainer facilitate "hands-on" exercises and strategies for intervening when possible violations occur. Dr. Lorna Harrison: email: lorna@trevorromain.com The Bullies Are A Pain In the Brain curriculum teaches students important safety and survival skills such as coping with peer pressure, cyberbullying, managing stress and conflict, and seeking help from friends, family, teachers, and guidance counselors. The Bullies Are a Pain In the Brain curriculum develops vital social and interpersonal relationship skills by combining a systematic reading and writing ELA curriculum with theme-based motivational content that students can connect to their own lives. The curriculum can be used as supplemental materials in an established ELA curriculum or used as core guidance lessons in a comprehensive developmental guidance program. www.trevorromain.com Molly Gosline is currently a school climate consultant and founder of School Climate Consulting Services, LLC.
