The Maine CITE Coordinating Center is funded by the Rehabilitation Services Administration of the U.S. Department of Education through the Maine Department of Education. MaineAIM Project - A new resource for Maine educators and families interested in learning more about how to select, acquire and use Accessible Instructional Materials (AIM) for students with Print Disabilities. Also contains information about NIMAS and NIMAC, as well as other sources of AIM. Maine Assistive Technology (AT) Resources for K-12 StudentsALLTech - ALLTech is a nationally recognized center that provides training, consultations, and technical assistance in the areas of assistive technology, specialized software, web accessibility, and universal design in education. AlphaOne - Directed by people with disabilities, the organization is committed to being a leading enterprise providing the community with information, services and products that create opportunities for people with disabilities to live independently. Alpha One can offer assistance and provide information about assistive technology through a number of programs. Services: Statewide information and referral; peer support; independent living assessment, AT financing; benefits counseling; adapted driver assessment; public policy development AT Maine - A T Maine provides the very best in assistive technology training, consultation and support. Whether you need to learn how to best use a screen reader, or screen magnification program, a counselor requiring training for a client, or an organization wishing to ensure that your technology infrastructure remains accessible, we can help. IRIS Network - The Iris Network has focused on Maine's blind and visually impaired since 1905, helping thousands of people meet the challenges of vision loss. We design our range of services and programs to meet the unique needs and goals of each individual. Maine Center on Deafness - The Maine Center on Deafness (MCD) is a nonprofit organization that serves people in Maine who are D/deaf, late-deafened or hard-of-hearing by providing resources, advocating for social equality, and helping the general public to better understand and appreciate Deaf culture and effective ways of communication. We are members of the Deaf community, friends and supporters that people who are D/deaf or hard-of-hearing can depend on. Mainely Access - Mainely Access Inc. is staffed by rehabilitation professionals who have provided adaptive technology services to over 1,000 individuals within the state of Maine. With Master's Degrees in Special Education, and Certifications in Low Vision Therapy, Rehabilitation Teaching and Orientation and Mobility, the staff of Mainely Access Inc. brings the highest level of professionalism to the services we provide. Pine Tree Society - Pine Tree Society helps people in Maine with disabilities lead richer, more socially connected lives. Too often, people with disabilities feel left out, even isolated. With the help of Pine Tree Society, they're not alone! We share a spirit of innovation and desire to discover new ways to break down barriers that many find insurmountable. It started as a bold new idea in 1936 and it continues every day. Whether it's a child discovering her first best friend at Pine Tree Camp or an adult finding his voice with customized assistive technology, Pine Tree Society changes lives. Technical Exploration Center at Husson College - TEC is a place to discover, learn about, practice, and use assistive technologies. The TEC offers a comprehensive technical assistance program. Individualized assessments and customization of equipment are available. The TEC offers workshops for adapting toys with switch controls, using adaptive equipment with computers, and using adapted toys. Membership allows individuals, families, educators or employers to borrow equipment for use at home, daycare, in school, or on the job. University of Maine at Farmington - The Assistive Technology Resource Center is a free resource for assistive technology (AT) for faculty, students, professionals within the community, individuals with disabilities, and their families. The Center provides information about assistive technology, how to use and evaluate various devices. Visitors can view AT equipment and preview specialized software and computer adaptations. The assistive technology is organized by curriculum area to support students with disabilities in meeting high academic standards. Many of the materials consist of inexpensive modifications and supports to regular classroom materials.
