What are the requirements for shipping plants from Maine?

All plants shipped from Maine must:

  • Be healthy and apparently free from insects and diseases,
  • Have an inspection certificate attached,
  • Must meet the import requirements of the destination state or country,
  • In some cases plants may need to be accompanied by a phytosanitary (plant health) certificate.

What are the requirements for bringing plants into Maine?

Plants brought into the Maine must:

  • be apparently free from plant pests,
  • have an inspection certificate, issued by the appropriate regulatory agency of the state of origin, attached to each package,
  • meet the requirements of any quarantines maintained by the state or federal government that restrict the movement and sale of some plants to prevent the spread of plant pests.
