Public Information

The Division provides an array of practical information regarding agriculture in Maine. We provide research, reports and information to the commissioner, legislature and commodity groups on issues impacting farm businesses, and support policy changes to improve the business climate for agriculture in Maine.

The Agricultural Creative Economy Study

A report and recommendations to the 123rd Legislature on the needs, opportunities and market analysis for the direct marketing sector of farmers and farm based food processors in Maine provides statistical information on the economic impact of this sector, review of studies on what types of consumer trends are impacting this sector, and offers recommendations for how best to improve the profitability and sustainability of this sector.
