General Registration Requirements
- Pesticide products distributed or offered for sale in Maine must be registered annually with
the Maine Board of Pesticides Control pursuant to the Maine Pesticides Control Act of 1975
(as amended).
- All products bearing multiple brand names, colors, finishes, scents, and fertilizer
analyses are required to be registered in Maine. Registration of varying container sizes
for products is not required unless directions differ from the product originally registered.
- Applications for new products must be made on our form, Application for Registration of
New Pesticide Products, revised 10/2009—see below. Renewals and new product
registrations must be submitted on separate forms.
- Registration Fee: $150.00 per product annually—Make checks payable to, Treasurer, State
of Maine. (Products bearing different names, EPA numbers, company name/addresses,
and/or labeling are considered different products.)
- Registration Term: One calendar year—All pesticide registrations expire December 31st of
the registration year.
- Companies will need to electronically resubmit all labels and Material Data Safety Sheets (MSDSs), in searchable PDF format.
- Companies participating in ALSTAR will only need to submit MSDSs.
- Send only labels and MSDSs to: pesticides.registrar@maine.gov.
- Paper and CD formats will not be accepted for 2010 registrations.
