The horticulture program (7 MRSA Section 2171 and 7 MRSA 2211- 2217) helps to ensure that healthy plant material is sold within and exported out of the state of Maine by:
Other responsibilities of the program include overseeing the arborist, ginseng and integrated pest management (IPM) programs and public education and outreach on horticultural issues.
The state horticulturist, two assistant horticulturists and an IPM entomologist staff the horticulture program.
