Giant African Land Snail , Achatina fulica

giant african land snailsThe giant African land snail is thought to be originally from Africa and is now established in many countries that have tropical climates. It has been introduced accidentally and purposefully for many reasons, including medicinal and research. Where it occurs, it can be a serious agricultural pest with over 500 known host plants. In some circumstances, these snails can harbor a parasite that can be harmful to humans.
