Interception of the Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (Halyomorpha halys) in Maine... again!

September 22, 2011

Stink bugs on crabappleIn the spring of this year, a homeowner in Lubec submitted a single adult BMSB to the Pest Management Office in Orono. The bug was found in the homeowner's house. Authorities believe the bug may have hitchhiked in the homeowner's belongings on a return trip from Maryland. No other brown marmorated stink bugs were found. There is still no evidence that BMSB has become established in Maine.

This year, BMSB has been found in New Hampshire and is known to be established in some areas.
