335 new worker’s compensation claims filed during the 4th quarter of FY 2000

Continuous trauma, slips and trips and lifting continue to dominate the top four positions.  What is of interest is the position of stress claims, sharing the #2 position in this most recent quarter.  During FY 2000, the position of stress claims has steadily increased in the quarter rankings.  Stress claims appears to be an area that deserves some study during FY 2001.

To more accurately capture the injuries to law enforcement officers, correction personnel and mental health workers due to assaults upon them, the category Altercation With Another Individual was created.  These injuries had previously been recorded in the Struck By, Contact With and other related categories, depending upon the choice of the individual doing the coding.
