Maine law (reference 5 MRS, §1453-A) requires that all wages and salaries of state employees be transferred by means of electronic funds transfer directly into an employee’s account in an accredited financial institution designated by the employee. Each employee must complete a direct deposit application form prescribed by the Office of the State Controller. The form is available through each agency’s Human Resources Office or through the Office of the State Controller.

Waiver provisions are also available in law. Provisions for such a waiver are also available through each agency’s Human Resources Office or through the Office of the State Controller.
