Board seeks comment on proposed Delegation of Nursing Activities and Tasks to Unlicensed Assistive Personnel by Registered Professional Nurses rule.

The State Board of Nursing proposes a rule to replace Chapter 6 of the Board of Nursing's rules, "Regulations Relating to Coordination and Oversight of Patient Care Services by Unlicensed Assistive Personnel." The proposed rule defines delegation and identifies the responsibilities of a registered professional nurse when delegating nursing activities and tasks to unlicensed assistive personnel. The Board of Nursing is required under 32 M.R.S. 2102(2)(H), as amended by Public Law 2024, ch. 592 (effective August 9, 2024), to adopt major substantive rules to implement 2102(2)(H) and (11).Please see the attached document for full details.
