All new staff attend a facility orientation and receive a minimum of 160 hours of training that will help you become a successful employee. Corrections officers attend a six-week classroom training academy including weekly on-the-job training covering all aspects of correctional work. Correctional officers receive continuous reinforcement which highlights the Department of Corrections Core Values - INTEGRITY, COURAGE, AND COMMITMENT.

Maine State Retirement System (Membership is required by State Statute)
- AFSCME Employees contribute 1.15% of their gross salary and the State matches with 21.29%
- MSEA Employees contribute 7.65% of their gross salary State matches 17.65 - 26.31% depending on job position
