The Maine State Prison Honor Guard was invited to present the
colors at a Boston Red Sox versus the Baltimore Oriole’s
baseball game Sept. 2, 2008.
Participating members of the Honor Guard were Capt. David George,
Capt. Dennis Ruel, Officer Matt Barnett, Officer Joe Chaplin,
and Officer Mark Engstfeld.
This was a great honor for the team and we thank
the Red Sox for giving us the opportunity to represent the State
Of Maine.

New members added to the Honor Guard
The Maine State Prison Ceremonial Honor Guard has recently appointed
the following Officers to the Team:
Officer Joe Chaplin, Officer Sue Lowden, Officer Matt Barnett and
Officer Robert Bowen.
An interview was conducted before a panel consisting of The Ceremonial
Honor Guard Commander and a detail member.
Applicants were evaluated based on appearance in uniform, past
and present work performance to include attendance, professional
demeanor and attitude as well as responses to panel questions. In
addition a strength test was given to each applicant to simulate
standing at attention for extended periods of time and a casket carry.
A final selection review was conducted by the Deputy Warden of
Security.
Congratulations to the new members of the team.

The Maine State Prison Ceremonial
Honor Guard participated in the Thomaston July 4th 2008 parade.
Our Team was very proud to represent the Department and participate
in such a great event.
