DP 4944 Proposed Telecommunications Tower

Development Permit Application DP 4944: US Cellular, through its agent Black Diamond Consultants, Inc., has submitted an application seeking approval to construct a Utility Facility, specifically a telecommunications tower (the Facility), in Big Lake Township, Washington County, Maine. The Facility would be constructed on a 40,000 square foot leased parcel accessed by a 30-foot by 800-foot utility/access easement. The Facility would include a 250-foot lattice-style tower, a 75-foot by 75-foot chain-linked fenced area with co-locations for six (6) tenants, a 30-foot by 85-foot parking area, and an 18-foot by 800-foot driveway. The tower would be lighted to comply with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements. The lease and easement area are portions of three contiguous lots identified as Maine Revenue Service Map WA033, Plan 04, Lots 23, 25 and 26 and described in Washington Registry of Deeds Book 1885, Page 171. The parcels are owned by Christopher S. Cochran. The lots are zoned Residential Development (D-RS) Subdistrict and General Management (M-GN) Subdistrict.

On August 13, 2014, the Commission held a public hearing on DP 4944 in Princeton, ME. The original comment period has been extended. Written comments on the proposal may be submitted until 5:00 PM Monday, October 20, 2014, to allow interested persons to file written statements with the Commission, and for an additional 7 days until Monday, October 27, 2014, to allow interested persons to file written statements in rebuttal of any statements filed during the proceeding comment period. The record of the hearing will then close.
