Pine Tree Development Zones
Pine Tree Development Zone (PTDZ) program offers eligible businesses the chance to greatly reduce or virtually eliminate state taxes for up to ten years. Our goal is to:
- Create quality jobs in targeted industries
- Support new or expanding Maine businesses, and businesses relocating or establishing a Maine presence.
Eligible Sectors
- Biotechnology
- Aquaculture and Marine Technology
- Composite Materials Technology
- Environmental Technology
- Advanced Technologies for Forestry and Agriculture
- Manufacturing, including Precision Manufacturing
- Information Technology
- Financial Services
Benefits
Beginning in 2010, newly-certified businesses located in certain municipalities in York and Cumberland counties will be limited to 5 years of benefits. These Tier 2 municipalities, based on prior calendar year Department of Labor unemployment data, are listed below. Otherwise eligible businesses locating in any municipality not listed below (Tier 1 municipalities) will have access to 10 years of benefits.
