The Mobile Source Section is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to reduce air pollution from mobile sources such as vehicles, trains, planes, marine vessels, off road equipment and recreational vehicles.
Vehicle emissions are the largest in-state source of ozone pollution in Maine. According to 2002 Emissions Inventory mobile sources contributes 76% of NOx emissions, and dangerous levels of particulate matter (soot) and airborne toxic chemicals. LEV4ME Maine's Clean Car Program This site identifies those cars that meet the Clean Car Labeling Program. The site includes a list of 2003 thru 2009 vehicles that are certified as Low Emission Vehicles (LEV) and get 30 miles/gallon or better fuel economy.

This site provides the application form and information on the grant program to repower commercial marine vessels.
Diesel Testing This site provides information on the States' On-Road Heavy Duty Diesel Testing Program which is operated in cooperation with the Maine State Police.
Enhanced Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance This site covers the emissions portion of the Enhanced Safety Inspection Program for Cumberland County. It includes On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) inspection.
Ethanol This site provides information on fuel containing ethanol. Included are fact sheets for owners and operators of gasoline storage tanks, retail station owners and operators, and some links to other sites with information on Ethanol.
State Vehicle Fleet Efficiency Report and Reporting Forms Contains the 2007 Executive Order Report required to track improvements to State Governments Transportation Sector. Also provides electronic copies of the 2008 reporting forms for mileage and vehicle replacement.
Fuels This site provides a copy of the 2007 Fuels Report and fuels data reported quarterly by the terminals as well as information on Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel.
Bio diesel Bio diesel is a renewable fuel made from either virgin or recycled plant oils or animal fats that can be used in place of regular petroleum-based diesel.
School Bus Program This site provides information on strategies for reducing student exposure to harmful diesel exhaust emissions.
