For Teachers

Welcome to the Maine DEP Bureau of Land and Water Quality's "For Teachers" page! There are many ways to help protect Maine's Environment.  Educating and inspiring others is a commendable deed.

This part are of the web site is designed to provide ideas on teaching about water related subjects and to inform about events and resources that DEP offers.  Check out seasonal events such as Earth Day or Children's Water Festivals.  Get students out of the classroom and involved in local issues through lake days, watershed grants, and "Plant a Buffer!" projects. Try out some of our on-line lesson plans for hands on activities.

What better way to have your students increase their knowledge of water than through fun activities!
