Getting Started - Exercise 1

Scenario:  You are a new employee or new GIS user, and your supervisor has asked for a quick summary of ozone monitors in each region based on a previously created map.  Try to complete each step without referring back to the material.  If you need help, there are links between some of the steps and the page they are found on.

Step 1 Copy course data
The course data are located in G:\training\a9bc.  You will need to:
  1. Map a network drive to \\dep-eia1asback1\workspace
  2. Create a folder in the 'training' folder (remember to follow the folder naming conventions)
  3. Copy the folder 'a9bc' into your folder
Step 2 Connect to Citrix
If you do not already have it running, start up the Citrix Program Neighborhood and log in to ArcMap.

Step 3 Open a map document
Open the map document in your folder called 'Ozone_regions_Statewide.mxd'.

Analysis
Just by visual checking, how many ozone monitors are shown in each ozone region?

   1.) Southwest Coastal Area __________________
   2.) Midcoastal Area _________________________
3.) Inland and Downeast Coastal Area __________
   4.) Northern Area____________________________
