Maps - Exercise 4 ANSWERS
1.) What does a
scale of 1:1 million mean on a printed
map? 1 unit on the map = 1 million
units on the ground (1 inch on the map = 1 million inches on the ground)
2.) If you wanted a scale that was relative, say 1"
= 1000 feet,
what scale would you set? 1:12,000
(because you have to convert feet to inches to be equivalent)
3.) What happens if you activate the wrong data frame and then
set the scale? The data frame
that is activated is the one that will be changed to the new scale.
4.) How many starship Enterprises have existed in the many TV
series and movies? Seven:
Enterprise - from the new show
'Enterprise'
Enterprise USS 1701 - from the original
'Star Trek' TV series, and the 'refit' version in the Star Trek movies
I-IV
Enterprise USS 1701-A - from the Star
Trek movies IV (at the end) - VI
Enterprise USSS 1701-B - from movie Star

Enterprise USS 1701-C - from the 'Next
