Creating/Printing Maps - Exporting Maps

Concepts:
   exporting
   PDF

You may find that you need to share maps with people who have no GIS capabilities, or that you need to publish maps up to a web site.  This is very easy to do in ArcMap using the 'Export Map' tool in the 'File' menu.  It will bring up a tool which allows you to export your map to any of several different formats.  The most commonly-used format is PDF, which can be opened in the widely-used Adobe Acrobat Reader software.  The tool will look like this:

You also will need to make sure the fonts used in your map are embedded in the PDF.  Click on the 'Format' tab under 'Options' to do this:

Once complete, you can open the map, view it, and print it out using Acrobat Reader.  Remember that you will have to open it up using a mapped network drive.
