Brownfields
ARRA includes a significant amount of money for competitive grants to be awarded by EPA on a regional or local basis. Applications for these grants were submitted in November of 2008 for three categories: Site Assessment, Revolving Loan Funds and Remediation. DEP's Brownfields Assessment Grant application [PDF] requested $200,000 for hazardous substance assessment and $200,000 for petroleum assessment.

EPA has announced that grants will be awarded to DEP and many Maine communities, as well as the Passamaquoddy Tribe using ARRA and brownfields general program funds.
