Description of Services:Care & Comfort provides Adult Community Supports. Services are available to individuals 18 years of age or older with a diagnosis of Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities. This service promotes self-respect, safety awareness, independence and improves the quality of life. This is achieved in the community, In-home, and at our Dempsey Learning Center in Waterville. Supports are provided 1:1 or in a group setting based on the individual’s strengths, needs, and desires covered in the Person Centered Plan. Our skilled compassionate and certified staff encourages and support individual growth, motivation and achievement. All activities are individualized, therapeutic and goal orientated while promoting social awareness. Examples of activities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Pre-Employment skill building & preparation (Skillshop)
  • Explore community resources & opportunities
  • Visit social gatherings, fairs, and community events
  • Nature & gardening activities
  • Encourage and support participation in Special Olympic events
  • Volunteering opportunities
  • Visits to parks, walking trails etc.
  • Money management skills
  • Libraries, museums, theaters and other areas to explore interests and strengths
  • Access career centers department stores, post offices, banks, police stations, etc.
  • Nutritional meal planning and preparation
  • Therapeutic horseback riding, swimming, and bowling
  • Assistance to coordinate appointments/schedules
  • Creative arts & craft projects
  • Cultural trips
  • Alfond Center, clubs, and other social civic organizations
  • Encourage participation in therapeutic games, hobbies, and indoor/outdoor sports
