Description of Services: KFI is a regional provider of services to people with disabilities, totally community-based, and nationally recognized and awarded for excellence. KFI’s mission is to empower and support people with disabilities in their efforts to live full lives as integral, respected members of the community.
KFI does not provide "programs" but offers personalized supports that are driven by the consumer through his/her person-centered planning process. Services are designed to meet the unique interests, preferences, and needs of the individual and are highly flexible.
Community Integration Services - Community-based day habilitation services which provides people with broad opportunities to go about their community, to use its resources, and develop friendships and relationships. The service also provides training and opportunity in areas of personal growth such as home management skills, fitness and health, interpersonal relationships, volunteerism, and leisure pursuits.
Supported Living Services - Provides flexible supports to individuals to meet their unique
needs while living in homes or apartments which the person or family/guardian leases from area landlords or purchases outright. KFI's supported living services are designed for people who require minimal assistance or those who require up to 24 hours of support each day. Areas of support provided may include: shopping and cooking, budgeting, leisure time activity and friendship development, volunteerism and community participation, personal hygiene, etc.
Community Employment Services - Provides assistance to individuals to identify, obtain, and or maintain employment. Services include preparation of the person for employment, job development and placement, job coaching and follow-along, and consultation to employers.
