Description of Services:
Since 1992, Job Placement Services, Inc. has provided vocational, educational and support services to individuals with disabilities in Southern Maine. Thatcher Brook Center is a fundamental life skills program for those with disabilities in Southern Maine, also providing work assessment and vocational training. JPS is dedicated to providing vocational work experience as well as academic training opportunities to adults with disabilities and students from local public schools in need of special services.

Our Goal is to:
Assist individuals in the program to gain the fundamental skills of life necessary to function independently in society with focus on self-control of behavior, and management as well as physical development, exploration and involvement.

Our Objective is to:
Teach and apply the skills needed to function independently in society. Such skills will include:

  • Self-awareness,
  • Money management,
  • Constructive use of leisure time,
  • Appropriate social interaction,
  • Communication skills,
  • Personal care,
  • Physical well-being

Implementation:
Occurs individually and in groups. For each skill area, a specific objective will be established within that area so that progress can be recognized and it can be determined if objectives are being met. These objectives are tailored to the needs of each individual client and can serve as both the Individual Service Plan (ISP) and documentation of progress towards the attainment of specific objectives.
