Description of Services:
Waban Projects, Inc. is a non-profit corporation organized to develop and operate programs which promotes the general welfare and education of children and adults with developmental disabilities. Emphasis is placed on the uniqueness of each individual, promoting independence through structured choice, community inclusion and training in life skills.

Our Adult Case Management program is designed to provide support and assistance to adults and families that are deemed eligible by the Dept. of Behavioral and Developmental services. Our case managers will work with the individual to develop a person centered plan that will foster growth, independence and empower them throughout the process to reach their self-identified goals and wishes for a desired lifestyle. Throughout this process, the case manager will assist the individual with becoming an active member of their community by supporting and assisting them with accessing the resources they desire or are in need of.

Other Waban Services Include:

  • Children's Case Management - supporting families in making effective use of services available to them including natural supports.
  • Adult Day Programs - CARF accreditated programs serving adults with developmental disabilities providing therapy based programs, work opportunities for those seeking employment, independent life skills training and community inclusion.
  • Child Development Center - Year-round accreditated (NAEYC) developmental program for children ages two and one-half to six, including an Infant Toddler program and an Assessment Team.
  • Habilitation Services - Home-based support services available to families who have children with a diagnosis of MR, PDD, or Autism and who are eligible for MaineCare. Trained staff work one to one with a child in their home and community on therapeutic goals developed with the parents.
  • Residential Services - Waban provides a variety of supported living settings in the community. Some of these are licensed homes and others are apartment settings. Staffing levels vary and are based upon the individual need for services. Each residential setting provides tailored programs developed to enhance each consumer's ability to become more independent and inclusive in their community.
