This is the new Machias office opened in 2001. Prior to the opening of the office Region 3 staff worked from their homes. The new office building houses the BH Region 3, Department of Corrections, and the Maine Career Center (Department of Labor, Office of Rehabilitation Services, and Washington-Hancock CAP). Past Commissioners Lynn Duby and Val Landry were present for the open house of new office building that is next door to the Department of Human Services building.

Maine's Department of Health and Human Services has divided its services into seven offices. The purpose is to work more closely with local families, community service providers, and civic groups.

Region 3 serves individuals and families in Aroostook, Hancock, Penobscot, Piscataquis and Washington Counties.
