Law Enforcement Sponsored Drug Take Back Program

Important changes in how unused medications are disposed of can be found on this website. You will find: both memos to residential long term care providers about upcoming law enforcement drug take back programs; frequently asked questions; and facility identification and inventory forms for the program.

The date for the next National Drug Take Back Initiative has been set for, Saturday, October 29th, 2011. Participation by residential long term care facilites is again sought in an effort to provide for a safe and responsible disposal of medications so that they are not flushed into Maine’s environment. All participating law enforcement agencies are encouraged to again reach out to those facilities in their respective communities and seek their participation. Coordination with community leaders and educators will also help market this very important initiative throughout our communities and school systems. As a result of the last successful take back, Maine ranked #1 in the nation on the amount of per capita drugs collected.

The Maine Center for Disease Control has updated its website with useful information for child care providers regarding Recreational Water Illness. For more information, about healthy swimming.
