What’s New! (updated October 2009)

The Department of Health and Human Services is pleased to make available a curriculum (Word*3.17MB)(*free viewer) to be used in residential care, assisted living and nursing facilities to improve facility response to individuals with behavior issues. This curriculum is a product of several committees within DHHS and others, beginning with Joint Advisory Council on Select Services to Older Persons, the University of Maine Center on Aging, the Best Practice Committee and Department staff. It is intended for use in continuing education of personal support specialists, certified nursing assistants, nurses and others whose experience is working with persons with behavioral issues. Behavior is communication.
