Environmental Review Reminders

To evaluate the environmental impact of all projects the following must be reviewed

  • Description of the project – alternatives, impacts and future of the area if the project is not done, contact information and street address of site where public may review the project. 
  • Site location – Project identified on a site location map and flood plain map.
  • Completion of the Appendix B will aid in determining what information you need to submit for your project. It will also help to determine a classification of the environmental assessment.

Project types include

Ø      Non-Equivalency Projects (Under $200,000) must meet environment regulations but an Environmental Information Document is not required. Submit the following with plans and specifications.

·         Applicant certifies that project complies with all local and State reviews and permit requirements for construction of the Project

·         Applicant submits copies of permits obtained

Ø      DWP reviews submittal and issues a Determination of Environmental Compliance and informs interested parties, mails notice and determination to applicant.  

·         Applicant publishes determination- submits copy of advertisement to DWP

Ø      Categorical Exclusion - Certain activities have been found to have limited environmental impact. For these projects the applicant does not need to send letters to cross-cutters.

·         Project no significant environmental impact, not located in or would affect nearby sensitive areas or resources and meets the criteria in SRF rules 6. II. Appendix B answers are all yes.

·         Applicant submits project description, maps, completed checklist

·         DWP reviews, issues determination and publishes to cross-cutters

·         Applicant publishes determination allows a 15 day comment period and submits copy of advertisement to DWP

Ø      Finding of No Significant Impact – preparation of an Environmental Information Document, EID, is required. Communication with Federal Cross-cutters must occur.

·         Applicant sends description of project with maps to Cross-cutters

·         Applicant prepares EID with letters to and from cross-cutters

·         DWP reviews EID issues determination, and publishes to cross-cutters

·         Applicant publishes determination allows a 30 day comment period and submits advertisement to DWP

Ø      Environmental Impact Statement- Project significantly impacts the environment. Call DWP for assistance.
