CURRENT VACANCY INFORMATION:

The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention promotes and protects the health of the citizens of Maine through programs focusing on the prevention and control of chronic diseases and their risk factors, injury prevention and control, oral health, the health of Maine’s youth, and on health promotion.  The Office of Local Public Health Liaisons, an office within Maine CDC, is charged with supporting the emerging local public health infrastructure. This includes overseeing the local health officer system and providing support to the local public health districts in addressing their public health needs/issues.  The department is recruiting for 3 current vacancies in Lewiston, Rockland, and Sanford.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
As the Local Public Health Liaison you will be a direct link for the public health district in order to represent the Maine CDC and provide leadership for one or more districts.  You will assist in coordinating state public health functions at the district level, assist districts in public health planning efforts, and provide assistance and other support services to local public health and community entities and Local Health Officers.  You will serve as a liaison between local, regional and State public health entities, provide a State government public health leadership role at the district level, and assist district stakeholders in addressing needs for improvement in the community’s ability to address its public health issues/needs.  You will assist district stakeholders in improving public health in the district’s communities, monitor activities for all parts of the district public health system, and contribute to public health activities by and for the district.  You will provide assistance to local public health entities, Tribes and local health officers; serve as a liaison between local, district and State public health entities; represent and advocate for the district’s public health issues and needs, and assist in the development and design of evaluations system.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Health or Public Health or a related field and six (6) years professional experience in medical and/or health care administration to include three (3) years at the program management level.
