  • District Characteristics
    • 173,317 people (Census 2006 est.) 36.2 persons per square mile (Census 2006 est.)
    • 2 county governments: Kennebec and Somerset Counties
    • 62 municipalities (incorporated local governments) incl. cities, towns and plantations, (unincorporated townships are a recognized part of the District. A TWP is officially served by the Maine CDC and may be served by the Local Health Officer of an adjacent town upon request.)

    • Note: Sebasticook Valley HMP is based in Central District but its State contract approves service delivery to 8 towns in the Central District (8 in Somerset CO; 1 in Kennebec CO) and 8 towns in the Penquis District (Penobscot CO). They collaborate closely with both Districts and HMPs
