Draft September 2011
Mental Health Services: Practice Guidelines for Recovery Oriented Care
These Guidelines have been developed based on the feedback from many stakeholders, and particularly from the Consumer Council System of Maine. Guidelines in Word* | PDF*
Thank you to all of you who have submitted feedback and participated in this process. OAMHS is in the process of reviewing the feedback and will be revising the document to produce a "working Version" of the Mental Health Services: Practice Guidelines for Recovery Oriented Care. This document is intended to be used as guidelines as we continue to evolve into a more recovery-oriented system of mental health care. It is our intention that the working document be used as a way for all of us – OAMHS, individuals receiving services, mental health providers and the community to guide our journey toward a system that supports and facilitates recovery, resiliency and community inclusion.
The current draft version addresses mental health services. We will be releasing a working version in order to support the efforts of those working to more toward more recovery-oriented mental health practice. As a "working document" it is open to revisions and evolution. As we move forward toward an integration of the Offices of Adult Mental Health Services and Substance Abuse, we will begin a process of collaboration to create practice guidelines that are integrated and recognize that many individuals experience mental health and substance use conditions as well as other co-occurring conditions such as chronic health conditions. This process will involve a broad range of stakeholders. Please stay tuned for future developments.
DHHS Adult Mental Health and Well-Being Survey
The DHHS Adult Mental Health and Well-Being Survey is a survey that is administered annually to adults receiving publicly funded mental health services from DHHS. The survey assesses consumer experiences and satisfaction with Maine’s mental health system. By examining trends and consumer satisfaction, DHHS can continue to gauge the perceptions of how well services are being provided and use this information side by side with additional measures of service outcomes to improve and enhance the experience of service recipients.
