Giving the students a copy of the appendices for themselves is a good idea.
Since this is the first competency based standardized re-cert for CRMAs we
must follow a different philosophy. One instructor asked if copies could be
made to give to students during the class (after the physician orders, MAR,
and short answers) and then collect them before they leave. I think that is
a good suggestion. Sending copies of the curriculum out before classes
begin is not a good one.

The pilot group was not given a copy of the curriculum either before or
during the physician orders, MAR, or short answers and they all did just
fine.

Changing the paradigm and focusing on a new way could be a great way to help
not only the CRMAs in their jobs, but to also be sure that we have done our
best to protect those we are giving medications to.

Thank you all

Is it not our teaching philosophy to provide all available information to
those being certified and/or re-certified?

Morning folks
There have been several inquiries as to whether or not to give students a
copy of the curriculum. My advice is to not give it out. The reason behind
this is that since its 70% competency based, you would want CRMAs to come
into the day and prove that they actually know the information. An unfair
advantage would be gained by some if they had the information before hand.

It was designed to teach from the instructor's copy. You could give out any
of the Appendices as references. Thanks
