Dear List Serve Instructors and Providers
In order to help lessen the burden of "hunting" down certificates to be sent
in with the new re-cert paperwork, we have designed a report that can be
printed from our duplicate certificate website. Instructors will still need
to verify that the student possesses the proper certification to enter the
re-cert class and instructors will still need to send this along, but this
new report will lessen the paper to be sent.
In order to access this, instructors will need the student's name and last 4
digits of their social security number. This report will satisfy the
required verification necessary. The report will tell you when the student
had their Bridge course; or it will tell you when they were issued their
40-hour certificate; or it will tell you when they were issued their 3-day
certificate. The only certificate we don't have on our database is their
original certificates they received for some trainings prior to March 1,
2003 when the database was transferred from BHSI to the department.
We are finding that some folks who never did take a Bridge course are now
trying to get into the re-cert course. There are some instructors/agencies
who are not verifying whether or not the students are eligible to take the
re-cert and the students are attending the class and are now being told they
cannot receive a certificate. We really don't want to have to do this, so
please be sure to verify eligibility.
Here is the website address:
http://beas.dhs.maine.gov/assisted/certificate.asp Once you put the
person's name and last 4 digits of their
Social and push the
search for cert button, you will notice
you can either print out a duplicate certificate or the new
"print summary"
You can either continue to send copies of the certificates or you can
utilize this new option. We are pleased we can offer this alternative
solution to you. Peter
