If a student is a CNA from another state they must contact Sally Flesher at
287-9310 to determine if they are equivalent to a CNA in Maine
A. 1) 150 hour curriculum 2) Proof they have worked 3 of the last 5 years
in the capacity of a CNA 3) GED or equivalent 4) SBI check if so they get
approval from the registry.
B. If the curriculum is <100 hour curriculum, they must take a CNA course in
Maine
C. If theyare equal or >100 hours, they must take a state to state Bridge
exam and clinical performance.
If the CNA is current on the registry, they may test out of the PSS without
taking the full course, submit: a validation form, student information form,
and copy of exam and/or results of exam.
If the CNA is not current on the registry, they must test out of the PSS
without taking the full course, submit: a validation form, student
information form, copy of exam and/or results of exam, and copy of Skills
performance sheets completed.

Please put date of expiration on registry or a note that the student was
checked and is current on the registry on the front of the validation form.
All students testing out of the PSS must provide proof of current CNA
certificate or the instructor must verify through the Registry.

Any questions please feel free to call.
