After conversing with Roanne Seeley RN of the Dept. of Education and Peter
Mauro Asst. Director of Community Services Licensing, we decided:
The PSS may move into the CNA curriculum with proof of the skills sheet from
their PSS class. You may want to provide the student a copy of their skills
sheet after completion should they choose to persue this career ladder plan.
The first 20 hours of the PSS is equivalent to the first six modules of the
CNA.
If a CNA decides to drop out to be a PSS, the student may provide a letter
from the CNA instructor to the PSS instructor indicating the student may
begin at hour 20 of the common curriculum to become a PSS.
After conversing with Lorraine Lachapelle RN of BEAS and Peter Mauro Asst.
Director of Community Services Licensing, we decided:
PSS students may be taught in the Module 15 Skills Procedures the
application of a Texas Catheter or Condom Catheter. This was allowed in the
PCA curriculum in the past. We will update the curriculum at some point to
include this as the wording is broad in the chapter to say Catheter Care and
does not identify this type of catheter.
