Supervisory Forum

Intended Audience: DHHS Supervisors

Being a supervisor can be one of the most rewarding jobs a person can have and, simultaneously, one of the most challenging.  Being responsible for employee performance and wondering if you have the necessary skills for this responsibility can make a supervisor feel vulnerable and alone.  Ever wish you could just get together with other supervisors and have an opportunity to build some skills, share concerns, make connections with others who supervise and build a network where ideas can be freely exchanged?

This Forum is designed for supervisors from all areas of DHHS to allow discussion of issues in a safe, confidential environment.  We will cover topics of interest, for example writing (really) measurable performance expectations and holding staff accountable; will review skills from programs participants have taken in the past; and will offer opportunities for sharing experiences and ideas with colleagues. We will provide prepared topics and also respond to the interests and needs of the group members.

The forum will be held once monthly for two-hour sessions.

Some topics to be covered will include the following but we are always open to your suggestions:

  • Developing Measurable Performance Expectations
  • Holding Employees accountable for their job performance
  • Maintaining professional boundaries as a supervisor
  • Delivering criticism tactfully and directly
  • Building resiliency
