Addiction to opiate based drugs, including Oxycontin, Percocet and heroin, is changing the community norms and service delivery system in Maine. This training will address the dynamics of opiate addiction and the use of medication to treat addiction to opioids and will cover:

• Continuum of care for substance abuse
• Medical aspects of opioid addiction and treatment
• Myths vs. Facts of methadone treatment
• Federal and State controls on medication assisted treatment
