Bay Management Report

LD 1857 was passed by the 121st Legislature, and became law on July 30th, 2004. Part B of this law directs Maine’s Land and Water Resources Council (LWRC) to undertake a 2-year study “to explore and document potential new and innovative concepts for the management of Maine’s embayments” (PL 2003 c. 660 Part B).

The law requires the LWRC to begin this study of “bay management” no later than September 1, 2004, and to submit a final report by January 15, 2007 to the joint standing committee on Marine Resources. The study will be carried out under the direction of the LWRC with work performed by an interagency staff work group with input of a project steering committee consisting of members of the public with expertise in relevant fields of interest.
