Maine Operation Game Thief announces partnership with Maine Marine Patrol

Augusta, Maine- The Board of Directors for Maine Operation Game Thief are happy to announce a new partnership with the Maine Marine Patrol effective immediately. Since its inception in 1989, Maine OGT has primarily worked with the Maine Warden Service and focused on hunting and fresh water violations and will now include salt water violations as well with the Maine Marine Patrol. Going forward the focus is to protect all of Maine’s natural resources by providing a confidential reporting system for violations, the tip hotline 1-800-ALERT-US (1-800-253-7887) or is completely anonymous for those who are reporting violations. Rewards are then reviewed and paid by Maine OGT, a non-profit organization, based on the information leading to an arrest and/or conviction of the violation. This program has been very effective for many years.

“The Operation Game Thief hotline will help the Maine Marine Patrol build on our efforts to enforce Maine’s conservation laws,” said Marine Patrol Colonel Joseph Fessenden. “Our state’s marine resources are vital to our identity and our economy. The Operation Game Thief hotline will provide concerned citizens and the Marine Patrol a powerful tool to deal with law breakers who jeopardize our valuable marine resources.”
