MFS Stewardship Program The program also can help with projects that improve forest health, water quality and wildlife habitats, as well as planting, thinning, pruning, and other activities. You can apply for "cost-share" assistance for developing the Woodland Management Plan; once the plan is completed, funds may be available for projects to implement the plan. The Maine Forest Stewardship Program is federally funded, and available money varies from year to year. Cost sharing through the Maine Forest Stewardship Program is administered as a partial reimbursement for approved projects completed with the help of your consulting Forester.
