Based on analysis of Maine earthquake data recorded from October, 1975, to June, 1986, the following recurrence curve (equation 2, p. 221) is given:

log N (per year) = 2.79 (± 0.029) - 0.89 (± 0.014) Mc

where N is the number of earthquakes equaling or exceeding magnitude Mc in a given year.
