Adapting to Change on Maine's Beaches:  Recommendations from DEP's Report, "People and Nature Adapting to a Changing Climate"

  • Malcolm Burson, Office of the Commissioner, Maine Department of Environmental Protection

In February 2010, Maine Department of Environmental Protection published People and Nature Adapting to a Changing Climate: Charting Maine's Course, incorporating the input of over 100 stakeholders from a diverse set of interest groups. The report was commissioned by the Joint Standing Committee on Natural Resources of the 124th Maine Legislature. An overview of the citizen involvement process used in preparing the report, and its recommendations relating to the future of Maine's beaches is presented.
