Figure 9. The seaward edge of the frontal dune has a vertical drop to the beach created by storm wave erosion. Over time, storm erosion is naturally repaired by wind and wave transport of sand to the toe of the dune. Here a wind-blown sand ramp has formed up against the dune scarp. MGS file photo by S. M.
