Table 4. Water Well Drillers Association of Maine recommended minimum depth of well for a given yield to supply a typical home with sufficient water. This guide assumes a standard 6-inch well where the static water level is at ground surface, and a family of 5 using 75 gallons each in one hour. It is very conservative in that 375 gallons of water would rarely be used in a single hour of the day.
