Many groups and non-profit agencies share in the
Department's mission to preserve, protect and promote the natural

Acadia National
Park is located on the coast of Maine and encompasses 47,633
acres of granite-domed mountains, woodlands, lakes and ponds,
and ocean shoreline. Such diverse types of habitat make Acadia
a haven for wildlife and plants.
Alliance
of Trail Vehicles of Maine (A.T.V Maine) is The Association
organized to represent and support all Maine ATV clubs. These local
clubs are working with landowners and others to encourage safe and
responsible use.
Baxter State
Park is a wilderness area of 202,064 acres, was a gift to the
State of Maine by former Gov. Percival P. Baxter. In 1930 he made
his first land purchase of 5,960 acres which included Katahdin,
the highest mountain in Maine.
Friends of Maine
State Parks was created in 1996 by individuals interested in
ensuring the preservation and protection of Maine’s State Park and
Historic Site system. Current projects include the creation of manager
plaques, provision of day use passes to the needy, and Camp Tanglewood
scholarships for 5th grade students.
Land For Maine's
Future: The LFMF program serves the people of Maine by funding
the acquisition of lands that the public has identified as important
to set aside for present and future generations.
Maine Atlantic Salmon Commission:
The purpose of the Commission is to protect, conserve, restore,
manage and enhance Atlantic salmon habitat, populations and sport
fisheries within historical habitat in all (inland and tidal) waters
of the State of Maine.
Maine Audubon: Maine
Audubon is a community of people who share an appreciation of Maine's
wildlife and outdoors, a concern for the stewardship of its natural
resources, and a commitment to a clean environment.
Maine Campground Owners Association:
The Maine Campground Owners Association invites you to discover
Maine's rugged coast, clear lakes and tranquil woods. Their campgrounds
and RV parks ofer uniquie opportunities to experience the wonders
of Maine.
Maine Coast Heritage Trust conserves
coastal and other lands that define Maines distinct landscape,
protect its environment, sustain its outdoor traditions and promote
the well-being of its people.
Maine's Agriculture
mission is to promote stewardship of Maine's agricultural and natural
resources while protecting human health and the environment.
Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife carries out a wide variety of fish and wildlife conservation programs.These programs focus on maintaining abundant game resources, as well as managing non-game wildlife and restoring endangered species, such as the bald eagle. The Department's mission has also been significantly broadened with responsibilities for white-water rafting; registration of watercraft; snowmobiles; ATVs; hunter, trapper and recreational vehicle safety; conservation education; and other matters. Maine Island Trail Association
is a non-profit conservation organization dedicated to the stewardship
and responsible use of islands
along the Maine coast from Casco Bay to Machias.
Maine
Professional Guides Association is composed of Registered Maine
Guides who are striving to enhance the standards of the guiding
industry.
Maine Recreation and Park Association the Maine affiliate of the
National Recreation and Park Association. It is an organization
comprised of professionals, students, commercial businesses and
citizen volunteers who are dedicated to the promotion of quality
parks, recreation, therapeutic and open space services for the
people of Maine.
Maine Snowmobile Association:
The Maine Snowmobile Association is an organization of 30,000 snowmobilers
(and friends) across the state and beyond its borders. Club members
work locally, regionally and at the state level to promote snowmobiling
as a safe, fun, family oriented winter sport.
Maine Office of Tourism
The Office of Tourism is responsible for implementing an overall
marketing program for the State of Maine, including advertising,
public relations, and research and analysis.
Maine Tourism Association
The Maine Tourism Association (MTA) is the largest private non-profit
tourism association in Maine representing over 1700 members from
across Maine. The MTA partners with the Maine Office of Tourism
to operate Maine's seven Visitor Information, Centers, publishes
the State's official travel planner "Maine Invites You", the Maine
Map and the Hunting and Fishing Map.
Small Woodlot Owners of Maine:
Owning and managing small woodland properties in Maine can be a
very rewarding endeavor. For two and half decades SWOAM has been
helping small woodland owners address these and countless other
issues.
Sportsman's Alliance of Maine
is Maine's largest sportsman's organization with a full-time headquarters
and staff in Augusta. SAM's staff works at the legislature, state
agencies and other forums on critical issues.
