- Referrals. "Child Find" refers to the process of locating, identifying and evaluating children with disabilities to ensure that they receive services to which they are entitled. Children who are suspected of having a disability may be referred for a possible evaluation to determine if they are eligible for early intervention/special education services.
- Maine CDS Sites (by town) (XLS, 22KB). Each CDS regional site is accountable for its specific population of children. Find the site serving the town in which the child lives.
- Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Part C & B. IDEA is the federal law governing grants to states to ensure that children with disabilities, age birth to 20, are identified for timely evaluation and, if eligible, provided appropriate services in the least restrictive setting.
