Jobs & Training - 58th Maine State Police Training Troop

Pre-RTT Week 2

This week each Recruit was assigned to a troop to ride alongside a State Trooper. We were able to respond to several calls for assistance and conduct traffic enforcement within our respective assignments. Two Recruits were assigned to Troop C which covers Franklin and Somerset Counties, and the other two were assigned to Troop B covering Cumberland, Androscoggin, and Oxford Counties. Each recruit was able to receive hands-on familiarization training conducting traffic stops, searching vehicles, and responding to calls for assistance. Some of the responses included drivers operating under the influence of alcohol, serving protection orders, searching vehicles incident to apprehension, and apprehending offenders operating a motor vehicle while suspended. It was an excellent opportunity to become familiar with State Police operating procedures and meet some of the troopers we will be working with in the future. Additionally, 12 previously certified law enforcement officers were hired and will join the 58th Recruit Training Troop to begin at the end of the month.
