Jobs & Training - 58th Maine State Police Training Troop
This week was spent finalizing our preparation for the Recruit Training Troop, which starts next week.
The four originally hired recruits worked on preparing the State Police dining room and billeting area,
as well as getting all the supplies and equipment in order for the additional seven recruits who were
hired from various law enforcement agencies.
Friday was orientation day for the new Recruits, and we were finally able to meet each other for the first time. In addition to learning about our benefits with the Maine State Police, we attended several classes dealing with Ethics and the history of the State Police.
We learned about our Core Principles; Integrity, Fairness, Compassion, and Excellence, and how these principles would shape us both as Troopers and as people throughout our careers. We learned about the Maine State Police Mission Statement and how the State Police was an adaptive department, utilizing modern technology and a progressive approach to problem solving, training, growth, and development, while maintaining the values and principles it was founded on.
We learned about the history of the Maine State Police, from the progression of vehicles and uniforms to the fallen Troopers and how they gave their lives in the line of duty.
We finished off the day in the classroom, where we were introduced to our instructors and learned what was expected of us as Recruits. We received our room assignments and equipment, and were sent on our way to prepare for the beginning of the 58th Recruit Training Troop.
